Next week, residents of Covington, Kentucky, are advised to place their trash and recycling carts out the night before collection. This adjustment comes as garbage trucks will begin their routes an hour earlier than usual on extremely hot days.

The City of Covington has permitted Rumpke Waste & Recycling to start residential and commercial collections at 6 a.m. instead of the typical 7 a.m. The decision aims to protect workers from heat-related illnesses such as heat stroke and heat exhaustion during periods of high heat and humidity.

"On brutally hot days, the garbage trucks will be driving down Covington streets an hour earlier than usual," states the announcement.

This measure is part of efforts to ensure worker safety amidst challenging weather conditions.
