Weekend events offer diverse entertainment options in Covington

Covington, Ky. – Despite the intense heat, various events are scheduled in Covington this weekend.

Residents can enjoy a movie night in the park on Friday with Covington Parks and Rec’s free showing of "Wings of Life" at Austinburg Park. The film, which explores the world of butterflies and pollinators, will start at dusk. Popcorn and snacks will be available.

"The Color Purple" musical opens on Friday at The Carnegie and runs through July 6. Based on Alice Walker’s novel, it tells the story of Celie, an African American woman’s journey of self-discovery in the early 20th century.

The Art off Main – The Village Summer Art Fair takes place on Saturday along the 6th Street Promenade in MainStrasse Village featuring numerous vendors.

For sports enthusiasts, The Fieldhouse Inaugural Card & Memorabilia Show occurs on Sunday, offering opportunities to buy, sell, or trade sports memorabilia.

Live music events are planned throughout the weekend at various venues including Behringer-Crawford Museum, Smoke Justis, Galaxie, Juniper’s, Madison Live, and Madison Theater. Performers include Burning Caravan, Ian Snow, Kenny Cowden, Bear Hands – The Key to What Tour among others.

Additional activities include sustainability sessions at Kenton County Public Library branches and trivia nights at local bars.

Events such as Legally Blonde presented by NightLight at Covington Plaza and Party on the Patio at Braxton Brewing Co. are scheduled for Friday. On Saturday, there is a farmers market and other community gatherings like Meet a Penguin! at Latonia Branch Library.

Trivia Sundays take place at West Sixth Covington Haus to close out the weekend's activities.
