Fischer Homes, the largest home builder in the region, has announced plans to relocate its corporate headquarters from Erlanger to Covington. The new location will be at 525 Scott St. in Covington's "First District" building.
Mayor Ron Washington expressed enthusiasm about the move, stating, "The City of Covington is proud to welcome The Fischer Group to our community. It’s especially meaningful that the builder behind one of Covington’s newest neighborhoods is planning to relocate here."
Greg Fischer, Chairman of The Fischer Group and son of the company's founders Henry and Elaine Fischer, highlighted the decision: “We believe Covington offers a uniquely business-friendly environment and a fantastic community for our associates to live, work, and thrive."
Fischer Homes holds a prominent position as the largest home builder in Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, and Louisville while also leading in other cities such as Dayton and Columbus. Recently, they expanded their operations to Raleigh, North Carolina.
Tim McMahon, CEO of The Fischer Group, noted their collaborative efforts with local partners: “We are working closely with our partners at the City of Covington, Kenton County, and the van Rooyen Group to make this exciting vision a reality."
The relocation involves expanding the current building by adding three stories on one end and another story above an existing gym. This expansion will increase its size from 65,000 square feet to 95,000 square feet with an estimated development cost of $11 million.
Originally built in 1939 as First District Elementary School within the Covington Independent School District before becoming Two Rivers Middle School which closed in 2009; Gateway Community & Technical College later purchased it but sold it after operating there for ten years until 2021 when Guy van Rooyen acquired it through his company.
Fischer Homes anticipates completing this transition by late 2027.
