The City of Covington is facing issues related to health and safety code violations attributed to a corporate entity and its volunteers. Resident reports have highlighted problems such as cat food being discarded on porches and sidewalks, urine-soaked cat shelters left in alleys, and unauthorized access to restricted areas.
Concerns have been particularly vocal from those in the Peaselburg neighborhood, where a vacant residential property owned by the entity is reportedly in poor condition. Despite fines exceeding $8,000 for past violations, the company has reportedly made little progress in addressing the property's disrepair since its acquisition several years ago.
"The City considers these violations to be unacceptable. Every resident deserves to live in a clean, safe community—free from the nuisances these violations cause," stated a city representative. In response, Covington has initiated a civil lawsuit seeking a court order to ensure compliance with health and safety ordinances.
The authorities have urged residents to report any instances of ordinance violations, such as the improper disposal of cat food or trespassing, to Kenton County Animal Control or the City's Code Enforcement Division.
