The Anne Arundel County Executive Administration has announced its decision to propose a new initiative focused on mosquito control called the "Backyard Mosquito Control Program." With anticipation for mosquito season, the county is taking proactive steps to curb potential threats posed by these insects to local residents.
"Spring is right around the corner," the County Executive stated. "We are always excited to get outside and enjoy outdoor activities in our neighborhoods and programming at our parks. Keeping our outdoor spaces comfortable and safe means managing mosquitoes. That’s why I’m excited to announce Anne Arundel County is launching a new Backyard Mosquito Control Program to help you control mosquitoes on your properties.”
The county's Health Department Director highlighted the significance of this measure by emphasizing its role in preventing mosquito-borne illnesses. "This is an important initiative for residents' health. Mosquito-borne diseases can pose serious health risks, and prevention starts in your backyard."
The county's Department of Recreation and Parks Director added, "Our parks are essential for community health and wellness. This program will complement our efforts to provide clean and safe parks for everyone to enjoy."
