Covington reminds candidates: no political signs on public property
City of Covington | Official Website

With the election season underway, the City of Covington is issuing a reminder regarding the placement of political signs. Candidates and supporters are advised that these signs are not permitted on public property. This rule also applies to ballot initiatives.

Public areas where signs are prohibited include parks, medians, promenades, tree wells, utility poles, street signs, and grass strips between sidewalks and streets. City staff have the authority to remove any unauthorized political signs from these locations, as well as those for businesses or causes lacking an encroachment permit.

The city also notes that "signs are also prohibited in the state-maintained right of way," which includes state routes managed by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. Additionally, placing political signs on private property requires permission from the property owner. Without such permission, owners may remove these signs.
