Covington, Kentucky has seen notable improvements in educational attainment and household income over recent years. According to the American Community Survey, the percentage of residents aged 25 and older with at least an associate’s degree rose from 22% in 2009 to 32% in 2023.
A significant development is the rise in the number of women holding doctoral degrees. Between 2021 and 2023, this number increased from 59 to 172, marking a substantial growth of 191%. This statistic does not include women who have earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree.
City officials believe that this trend signifies Covington's growing sophistication and could stimulate further economic growth and enhance quality of life. They highlight the connection between an educated workforce and the ability to attract businesses, which can lead to higher household incomes and increased tax revenue for city services and infrastructure.
