COVINGTON, Ky. – This weekend in Covington offers a variety of events for residents and visitors alike. The Austinburg Park Grand Reopening is scheduled to proceed as planned on Saturday with no rain expected.
The reopening will showcase several improvements to the park, including new sidewalks, repaved basketball courts with updated goals and lines, enhanced parking facilities, new playground equipment, a seating area for the FC Cincinnati soccer mini pitch, a shelter house, an informational kiosk, a dog park, pickleball courts, and upgraded landscaping.
Special guests at the event include FC Cincinnati’s Gary the Lion and DJ Pizza Boy Jaws. Attendees can enjoy free food and drinks along with games and giveaways.
For those interested in art activities, The Carnegie will host Urban Sketchers led by Robin Carnes on Saturday. Participants will have the opportunity to sketch The Carnegie’s architecture and “Notations on Ritual” exhibit. Urban Sketchers is known for promoting location drawing worldwide.
Meanwhile, the Mother’s Day Market at Handzy will offer various gifts such as flowers from a flower bar and custom poems alongside local vendor products like jewelry and art prints.
The Ohio River Way Challenge continues its journey through Northern Kentucky towards Louisville this Saturday. Spectators are encouraged to watch this nearly 300-mile canoe trip promoting the Ohio River Way Water Trail.
Art Equals invites individuals to Blue Together at the Hellmann Center on Saturday to support mental health awareness through creativity. Activities include an Indigo Dye party where participants can create unique cotton designs using blue dye techniques.
Mother's Day brunch options include Smoke Justis' Brunch Buffet and The Gruff's brunch service on Sunday.
