The Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile Jr. Foundation has announced its relocation to Covington, Kentucky. Taking up residence at Ralph Haile Square, this marks a return to a significant site where Ralph Haile Jr. spent a substantial portion of his professional life as the president of People’s Liberty Bank.

Previously based in Cincinnati, the independent family foundation focuses on enhancing the quality of life for those living in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Its move to the former People’s Liberty Bank complex, located at 6th Street and Madison Avenue, carries historical importance, aligning with Ralph Haile's legacy in community banking and civic leadership.

Mayor Ron Washington expressed support for the Foundation’s move, stating, “I can’t think of a finer or more fitting address for the Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile Jr. Foundation than Ralph Haile Square.” Washington praised Haile's impactful contributions and anticipated further positive changes in the community stemming from the foundation’s presence.

Likewise, Haile Foundation President and CEO Bernie McKay described the relocation as a “homecoming.” The Foundation plans to convert Ralph Haile's former office into the new board room, where future decisions aligning with Mr. and Mrs. Haile’s legacy will be made.

Reflecting on past interactions, Covington Economic Development Director Tom West shared memories of his frequent meetings with Mr. Haile during the 1990s. West expressed excitement over the foundation’s move, indicating that Ralph Haile had long been a leader in Covington's development.

Ralph Haile, a former Army Air Corps pilot, and his wife Carol Ann contributed to transformative projects in the region, with Ralph focused on economic development and Carol Ann on arts and cultural initiatives.

The foundation’s new headquarters is set to open in the fall of 2025. The City of Covington has supported the move by offering a tax incentive related to job creation over the next five years. Covington City Manager Ken Smith celebrated the relocation saying, “Ralph was a major part of our business community, leading many important projects in our downtown.”

Smith, who previously worked as executive director of the nonprofit Price Hill Will, acknowledged the Foundation's longstanding impact. "We look forward to having the Foundation as our newest neighbors. Welcome home!" said Smith.
