As Valentine's Day transitions into Ash Wednesday, Covington, Kentucky is set to host a weekend filled with diverse activities. The events include the annual Mardi Gras parade, a wildflower talk at Devou Park museum, and a community plogging event.

Patrick Applegarth, a botanist and biologist, will lead a discussion on native wildflowers at the Behringer-Crawford Museum Education Center. This session will focus on the role of these plants in supporting pollinators and how to cultivate them.

Saturday marks Kentucky's third annual Plogging Across the Bluegrass event. In collaboration with Keep Kentucky Beautiful and West Sixth Brewery, participants will meet at West Sixth Brewery Covington Haus to pick up litter while running or walking. Three routes are available for ploggers, each taking about an hour and a half. Afterward, participants can enjoy drinks and lunch from Smoke Justis.

The 2025 MainStrasse Village Mardi Gras Parade by Up Over Bar will also take place on Saturday. More than 60 floats will move from Main & Ninth streets to Main & Fifth streets. The parade is followed by the MainStrasse Pub Crawl.

Live music performances are scheduled throughout the weekend at various venues including Molly Malone’s Irish Pub & Restaurant, Madison Live, The Village Theater, Galaxie, Juniper’s, and Madison Theater.

Additional events include National Chili Day at Kenton County Public Library tonight and the Covington Farmers Market at Braxton Brewing Co., along with other cultural activities on Saturday.
