Winter storms disrupt Covington trash collection; residents urged to remain patient

Snow, ice, and cold temperatures are causing ongoing disruptions in trash and recycling collection in Covington, Kentucky. Rumpke Waste & Recycling has implemented a one-day-delay plan to address the situation. This means that areas typically serviced on Thursday will be collected today, while Friday routes will be addressed tomorrow.

However, several challenges could impact this schedule. The region is expecting more snow this afternoon, though the exact details remain uncertain. Additionally, remnants from a previous storm and snow-covered parked vehicles continue to obstruct access to waste carts in some locations. If your cart wasn't collected while others on your street were, it's likely that Rumpke won't return until the next scheduled collection day. In such cases, drivers will pick up additional materials during their next visit.

Covington's Solid Waste and Recycling Manager Sheila Fields expressed gratitude for residents' understanding: “We appreciate people’s patience,” she said. Fields noted that communication with Rumpke is ongoing and that drivers are making efforts despite challenging weather conditions.
