Covington announces holiday trash collection schedule changes

Ron Washington Mayor | City of Covington

Trash and recycling collection in Covington, Kentucky, will be adjusted during the weeks of Christmas and New Year's Day. Collection services will not operate on Christmas Day, December 25, and New Year's Day, January 1. Instead, collections will occur on Thursday of both weeks. Consequently, Thursday's regular service will shift to Friday, and Friday's service will move to Saturday.

To allow Rumpke team members to celebrate with their families, collections on Christmas Eve (December 24) and New Year's Eve (December 31) will start at 6 a.m. Residents are advised to place their carts out the night before.

The Covington Transfer Station operated by Rumpke Waste & Recycling on Boron Drive will also have altered hours due to the holidays. The station is closed on both Christmas Day and New Year's Day. On December 24 and December 31, it will be open from 8 a.m. until noon. The station resumes its regular schedule with limited hours on Saturdays following each holiday.

Residents are encouraged to participate in recycling efforts during this period. Non-working holiday lights can be recycled at City Hall and other designated locations. Additionally, natural trees can be recycled into mulch through city-sponsored drop-off options available from December 26 through January 18.
